I’ve been like, big into trains since I was a kid.
In many ways, to this day, I would say my design practice is informed by wanting to ride on them, and thinking about ways the experience could be even more fun. One of those ways is with maps.
I designed a typeface for the logo and drew a map that took the kind of liberties with physical space Massimo could only ever dream of, visualizing stations by how long one could expect to spend riding between them. I think even at the time I knew I could be a little more practical.
In the years since, it has become my life’s mission/long-term side project to draw the definitive MARTA map, and with the debut of the Rapid A Line and reconfigured bus network, I returned to the digital drawing board once again.
